Common planning questions
How long can a shower door take from quote to install?
Timing varies by installer, opening, glass, and season. This site does not promise a response, site visit, fabrication period, or installation date; ask any installer who contacts you for their current schedule.
Will an installer measure on site, or can I send measurements?
Your rough measurements and photos can help describe the request, but an independent installer should decide what site measurements are required before quoting or ordering custom glass. This site does not measure openings.
My wall isn't plumb. Is a frameless door still possible?
Usually, yes. Deviation is normal in older shore cottages and historic borough bathrooms. Frameless glass handles it through hinge selection, a scribed wall channel, or a slightly tapered panel. What matters is that the deviation is measured before glass is cut rather than discovered on install day.
What glass thickness do you use?
Common specifications include three-eighths-inch glass for many frameless doors and panels, with half-inch glass considered for some tall or wide panels. Framed systems often use thinner glass because the frame carries the load. An installer should size hardware to the final panel.
Is a protective coating worth it?
On the barrier islands and anywhere with hard water, yes — it makes squeegeeing effective rather than optional. It is not a substitute for wiping the glass down; nothing is.
